'Rain Song'
by Tiffany Qiu
Listen
to the hazy drops
that caress your umbrella
Listen
to the ceaseless wind
that enfolds and invites you
Listen
to the magpies gathering
across the Silver River.
Flashing lights over the void,
a translucent call,
voices crying the rain must fall.
Unfaltering.
Listen.

My story in writing
"Growing up, I can't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with reading and writing. At the age of 7, I wrote my first 'novel' about a group of children and their adventures being captured by and later fleeing from a wicked witch named Fatima. Later, a short story collection dedicated to my younger sister was conceived, and many improvised stories which she'd beg me to tell and which lasted for hours. As a teenager, I was often awarded English Prize for the highest overall mark in the subject and representing my school at the semi-finals of the Poetry Aloud competition in the National Library of Ireland. I contributed articles to the the local newspaper as a teenager and briefly contemplated pursuing English Literature (and French) at the University College of London when I was offered a place. I was also the youngest member of the Irish Writers Centre's writing group known as 'The Inkslingers' from 2018-2020.
As a result, I have accumulated a significant number of poems over the years as well as currently working on a short story collection inspired by my experience in the music industry. I cannot wait to share them with you, so be sure to stay tuned for exciting announcements in 2026."
